   Street of Purtepole in parish of St. Andrew Holeburne, H. III. (Anc. Deeds, B. 2192).
   Purtepol Street," 18 H. III. (ib. B. 2191). " Street of Pourtepol without London," 1299 (MS. D. and C. St. Paul's, Press A. Box 24, No.629). "Purtepole Street" (H. 1155 Com. 9th Rep. p.3).
   The street of Purtepole would probably be identical with the future "Gray's Inn Lane," being the main thoroughfare through the manor.
